Il prossimo anno accademico partirà una borsa di dottorato, nel programma di dottorato "Metodi e modelli matematici per l'ingegneria" (40esimo ciclo) presso il Dip di Matematica. La borsa sarà finanziata dal PNRR ed è una borsa a progetto in collaborazione con ATS Milano. Nei tre anni di durata del PhD saranno necessariamente inclusi anche 6 mesi di tirocinio (presso ATS Milano, Epidemiologia), in parte svolto da remoto,  e 6 mesi all'estero (con aumento della borsa del 50%).   Il tema di ricerca riguarda  la modellizzazione statistica di outcome sanitari dovuti a malattie imputabili all'inquinamento atmosferico . In particular, you will study algorithms for computing the stationary distribution of random walks and policy evaluation. Random walks are used in network analysis for ranking vertices, community detection, and embedding of the vertices in multi-dimensional space for machine learning tasks. Policy evaluation is widely used in reinforcement learning, for instance, for training large language models. The PhD TA position is for 5 years with 25% of your time spent on education.
