The University of Pisa has launched a new interdisciplinary industrial PhD program in High-Performance Scientific Computing (HPSC) with 4 fully funded positions open for applications (EU and non-EU), starting November 2025. This innovative doctoral program is designed in collaboration with the medical technology company Sordina IORT Technologies, and brings together 8 university departments and several national research institutes. It focuses on the development of advanced computational methods and HPC-based solutions for complex problems in science, engineering, and medicine. Specific research topics for the funded scholarships include:  - Iterative Methods and Preconditioners for Sparse Linear Systems on Pre-Exascale and Exascale Architectures  - HPC Software for Design and Analysis of Electronic Devices using Advanced Materials and AI/ML  - Computational Models for Flash Radiotherapy and Radiobiological Applications (2 positions)  - Reduced-Precision and Matrix Units on AI GPUs for ...

There are  two PhD positions open in Network Science  in  our group  (jointly with the group of Subodh Patil) at the Leiden Institute of Physics (the Netherlands), with intended start date on 1/9/2025 (flexible in case of exceptional candidates). The perspective candidates will work on projects concerning the  renormalization and generalized statistical mechanics of complex networks . The applicants will be joining a vibrant and active research ecosystem, with frequent interactions with our colleagues at other institutes in the Netherlands and across Europe. There are openings for the  new international Honors Program at the IMT School of Advanced Studies in Lucca (Italy) , currently inviting applications from  talented students enrolled in the first year of a Master's degree . The funded program has a duration of 9 months (September 2025 - June 2026) and provides participating students with a high-level academic experience, with the opportunity to engage with the world of research in an international and dynamic environment, which includes our  NETWORKS Research Unit . A maximum of 16 selected students may take part in the program. From Valeria Vitelli:  two fully funded positions in statistics are available in my group, one for a  PhD candidate  and one for a  3-years postdoc researcher , at the Department of Biostatistics, which is part of the  Oslo Centre for Biostatistics and Epidemiology ,  University of Oslo  (UiO), Norway. Both positions are linked to a project recently funded by the Research Council of Norway concerning Bayesian models for unsupervised learning when multiple data sources are available, mostly tailored to the case of molecular data in cancer genomics.
