PhD @TU-Wien (Mathematical Statistics/Econometrics)

The Research Unit Econometrics at the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics at TU Wien invites applications for a PhD position (Prae Doc) in Statistics/Econometrics. 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate is expected to conduct high-quality research in Mathematical Statistics/Econometrics (such as high-dimensional statistics with a focus on penalized estimation methods) leading to peer-reviewed articles and a PhD dissertation. Teaching of exercise sessions and participation in administrative duties of the research unit and the institute are also expected. 

Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or related field at the time of employment and have good communication and writing skills in English. Basic knowledge of German is beneficial, but not necessary. 

Salary Range: The monthly minimum salary currently is (pay grade B1, basic level) EUR 2,458.00 gross (14x per year).
The contract is for a period of up to 4 years. The earliest starting date is in October 2023, or by mutual agreement.
